Ontime Performance
  How do we measure performance?
  • Determine the total number of orders shipped in the period
  • Determine the number of orders shipped on time
  • 'Ontime Performance' is the ratio
  • Manufacturing time is defined as the number of business days from Design Approval(*) to the time of shipping.
  • If an order ships within the quoted lead time, it is ontime. If not, it is late.
  • Example: A customer is quoted 2-3 day lead time, and approves the design on Monday 11am Eastern. If we ship it on or before Thursday, we consider it shipped on time.
* If Design Approval occurs after 12 noon Eastern Time, approval is considered to have occurred the following day.
What are our top causes of delays?
Although we’re proud of achieving 98.70% ontime for the last 26 weeks, we realize those customers who are in the % late are not being fully served. Thus we are working towards 100% on time, but we’re not there yet. The leading causes of delay are:
  • Supply chain failure when ordering non-stocked or custom components
  • Product defects discovered in house before shipment.
At Protocase, we specialize in turning your designs into fully finished sheet metal enclosures and accessories as fast as possible. Our standard lead time promise is 2-3 days*, which is the fastest service in the industry. We're serious about delivering on our promise. To make this happen, we developed a manufacturing process that eliminates order backlog and the waiting in queues between stations that is an inherent part of conventional manufacturing. We're proud enough of what we've accomplished to want to share our record with our customers, so we built this web page which shows our ontime performance. Protocase Ontime Performance Graph

The graph, which is generated twice per day, and shows 'ontime performance' which we define as (# of orders shipped ontime in the period) / (total # of orders shipped in the period). Data points are weekly, and the data point for the current week is based on shipments until the time of last regeneration (scheduled for noon and midnight). Data is shown for the preceding 26 weeks. Also shown is the average ontime performance for entire 26 week period.

Finally, please note that this performance measurement does not take into account the performance of the shipper. We recognize that your experience with Protocase depends on when you actually recieve your product, not just when we ship it, so this ontime performance measurement is, in a sense, incomplete. You should expect to see courier performance data on our site in the near future.

* 2-3 day service applies to orders under a certain size threshold, using stock components. Extra time may be required for larger projects, non-stocked components, and for curing of silkscreen ink.
