Protocase builds custom sheet metal enclosures. We build them fast, with a 2-3 day turnaround, while still maintaining the highest level of quality. We build enclosures of all styles, including rackmounts, U and L shapes, consoles and consolets, and fully custom designs. Designing your enclosure couldn't be easier. With our custom CAD software, Protocase Designer, you can fully design the enclosure yourself, using parameters that ensure compatibility with our manufacturing process. Not familiar with CAD? No problem. Our design team can help you flesh out your idea based on drawings, sketches, or even the internal components you plan to have in your enclosure. Simply put, if you have an idea, we'll help make it a reality.

Our enclosures are fully finished, and can include hardware, fasteners, brackets, hinges, accessories, and also powdercoat and silkscreen. There are no minimum orders, and we'll build anything from prototypes and one-off designs, right up to high-volume manufacturing runs that take advantage of our blanket order program.

At Protocase, our rackmounts are 100% custom made in 2-3 days, so we can supply you with anything from a standard 19” configuration, to a fully custom design. Custom cutouts are included, so you don't have to waste time drilling and filing as with off-the-shelf enclosures. We build in all the hardware and fasteners that you need, as well as internal metal components such as brackets, backplanes, and partitions. Powdercoat finish is standard, and silkscreening is available to enhance functionality and aesthetics.

Custom U-shape Enclosures

Custom U-Shape Enclosure

We build custom U-shape enclosures for you in 2-3 days. The U-shape enclosure style is highly versatile and can solve a number of enclosure challenges in its standard form, or it can serve as a base for further customization. U-shape enclosures are commonly used with circuit boards that have through-panel connectors limited to one side (L-shape enclosures can more easily accommodate boards with through-panel connectors on opposing sides). As with all our enclosures, custom cutouts are included, so you don't have to waste time drilling and filing as with off-the-shelf enclosures. We build in all the hardware and fasteners that you need, as well as internal metal components such as brackets, backplanes, and partitions. Powdercoat finish is standard, and silkscreening is available to enhance functionality and aesthetics.

We build custom L-shape enclosures for you in 2-3 days. L-shape enclosures are similar to the more-common U style, but can more easily accommodate circuit boards with connectors on opposing sides. Custom Computer Enclosures

Fully Custom Enclosure Protocase custom builds enclosures for computer applications, which are built to your design in 2-3 days. Computer enclosures often start as standard rackmount, U, or L shape designs, to which the customer adds details such as custom standoffs to mount motherboards, cutouts and fasteners to accommodate power supplies, drives and drive bays, ventilation holes and fans, switches, connectors, etc. We can work from your own CAD files, and if you do not wish to design from scratch, consider using our free 3D CAD software, or a template from our free online template generator. Or utilize our expert design services to save design time and focus on your own core activities.

A Plug for BackBlaze

We thought we'd share our perspective as happy customers of Backblaze's online backup service. Although our core company backup activities are looked after internally by our IT staff, management laptops were a loose end that required manual intervention. We had tried other solutions in the past, but nothing was satisfactory. It took time to back these machines up, but more importantly, it didn't get done as often as it should, which was in invitation to disaster. Backblaze was a perfect solution. Downloading and installing the small utility onto the laptops was simple, and it is truly unobtrusive, operating in the background with no perceivable performance penalty. Although we have yet to do a recovery, we checked that we could access our data, and it was indeed readily available. The cost is absolutely minimal, versus the time and interruption required for manual back, as well as the risk exposure from procrastination. Thus we whole heartedly recommend this service to anyone who wishes to have data security without the constant hassles associated with traditional backup approaches.
