Corrosion resistant and lightweight.
Lower structural stiffness than steel (about 1/3), which must be compensated for by thicker gauge.
Our Aluminum 6063 Extrusion allows you to create a custom extruded aluminum enclosure that fits your exact specifications.
The aluminum extrusion (or side rail, as it's also known) we stock is ideal for creating PCB enclosures, because the extrusion's slots allow for easy mounting of printed circuit boards.

Finish: Powdercoat, No Finish, Chemical Conversion Coating (the top, bottom, rear and front panels in an extruded aluminum enclosure can have several additional finishes applied)
Fasteners: Typically, stainless steel fasteners are used with aluminum. However, in some cases, zinc-plated fasteners are used, depending on the application. Self-clinching fasteners cannot be inserted into aluminum extrusions unless the area is CNC machined in order to insert the fastener.

NOTE: Aluminum fasteners are very soft and therefore have low physical durability. As a result, we do NOT stock them. However, there are some applications where they are useful, such as parts that have service in corrosive liquids such as salt water. Other combinations of dissimilar metals can cause galvanic corrosion.
