Dimple Forming
Dimple Forming involves pressing the edge of the hole between dimple dies to form a beveled/flared edge.
It is part of our in-house services, and can be completed within our fast 2-3 day lead time.
Common Applications
Strengthening: Dimples can stiffen thin parts, allowing for increased strength while reducing overall weight.
Weight Reduction: Material can be strategically removed by adding dimples, all while maintaining the part's strength.
Tread Plate: Small, protruding dimples create an effective anti-slip surface.
Cosmetics: Dimples can be used for aesthetic purposes.

Our stock dies are rated to handle:
5052-H32 Aluminum (thickness up to 0.13” | 3.302mm)
Cold Rolled Steel (thickness up to 0.13” | 3.302mm)
Galvanneal (thickness up to 0.13” | 3.302mm)
304 Stainless Steel (thickness up to 0.094” | 2.388mm)
Finishes
Parts with no finish may show minor tool marks, cosmetic bare metal finishes will be touched up where possible.
Tolerances
We only guarantee tolerances on a few key dimensions:
Major Diameter: ±0.040“ | ±1.016mm
Minor Diameter: ±0.040” | ±1.016mm
Height: ±0.040“ | ±1.016mm
The formed feature geometry in the models is approximate showing the key dimensions.
The sides are not exactly conical and will have a slight curvature.
